Transit Oriented Development Gets Boost From State Grant
From Mayor Miguel Pulido’s July, 2015 Newsletter
C&C Development’s project, The Depot at Santiago, was recently awarded a $3.9 million state grant through the b (AHSC), a program created to fund capital improvements that reduce greenhouse gas emissions by reducing the number of miles that people drive.
The 70-unit transit-oriented development project, located directly across the street from the Santa Ana Regional Transit Center (SARTC) and adjacent to the first stop of the proposed OC Streetcar project, will provide high quality, affordable housing.
The housing project also includes $400,000 for pedestrian safety enhancements at the intersections of Santa Ana Boulevard/Lacy Street and Santa Ana Boulevard/Garfield Street, located directly along the proposed streetcar alignment. With the OC Streetcar coming to Santa Ana, this state grant to The Depot at Santiago housing project is validation of the City’s efforts to promote transit-oriented development and a sustainable community.
